Mount Misery, Voluntown, CT

February 23, 2013
Distance: 1.8 miles, 170 feet elevation gain
Time: 1 hour?

Map: Hike New England Mount Misery or Pachaug Mount Misery Trail Map or map in AMC's Best Day Hikes in Connecticut (hike #40)

Parking: N41 35.626 W71 52.082
Note that the parking area is at the blue lake looking thing on the Hike New England Mount Misery map. Cutoff road is actually not drivable.
Using the GPS to navigate to Cutoff Road didn't work. It tried to take us down unplowed/gated Lee Road.
Directions provided in the AMC book worked. We entered the Pachaug Forest at the main park entrance. The GPS didn't recognize any roads within the park. See Hike New England also for directions.

Restrooms: In parking lot

Post hike dinner: Heirloom Food Company (very vegan/vegetarian friendly), open Tuesdays-Saturdays. Really good!

Directions: Hike #40 in AMC's Best Day Hikes in Connecticut.
From the parking lot, continue straight along Cutoff Road (no cars). Pass Rhododendron Trail on right (listed as hike #39 in the AMC book). Pass a park road to the left. Shortly after, turn left when light blue blazes leave to the left. Follow the light blue blazes to the summit. Return using the same trail back.

Nots: This is a short hike. It has a short steepish section in the beginning, but this isn't a difficult hike. It was a rainy/snowy day. We only saw 2 other people hiking on the trail. The trail was icy, and we ended up using microspikes on the way down.

Year to date miles: 19.2
